The Maryland Department of Transportation is pleased to announce that it is currently accepting new
project applications for Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP) funding.
Applications must be received in the Regional and Intermodal Planning Division in SHA's Headquarters,
(707 North Calvert Street, 5th Floor, in Baltimore) by 4:00 p.m. on March 3, 2008.
The Department is soliciting applications for projects that will be able to proceed to construction
or implementation within 24 months. Projects awarded TEP funding will be expected to follow all
State and federal requirements.
We hope that you will find the application form understandable and easy to use. The revised TEP guidelines,
the new application form, and instructions are available for download at
http://www.marylandroads.com/ImprovingOurCommunity/OPPE/tep.asp.
The TEP application is undergoing additional reviews and modifications. Your input, corrections
and suggestions are solicited and would be greatly appreciated so that the document can be made as usable,
informative, and clear as possible for all of our customers.
Please use the format of the application as presented. Please do not make format changes,
including elimination of boxes, sections, and lines. Please do not put numbers in the cash match cells
in the non-construction activities portion of the Construction Projects budget table. Please refer to Manual
section 4 for detailed information on filling out the application. Please request support letters to
be sent to your jurisdiction for attachment to the application.
Jurisdictions that have projects that they are considering for future funding requests are encouraged
to send an expression of interest letter indicating they are developing these projects, along with as
much project information as possible. The TEP staff will be pleased to work with you in developing
your funding application.
If you have any questions concerning project eligibility or program requirements or comments on the
revised guidance, please contact Ms. Mary Keller, the Enhancement Program Liaison for the State
Highway Administration. She may be reached at 410-545-5675, 1-888-204-4828, or
mkeller@sha.state.md.us.
Applications may be submitted to Ms. Keller at 707 N. Calvert Street, Mailstop C-502, Baltimore, MD 21202.
The deadline for submitting project applications is March 3, 2008.
Funding announcements will be made in Spring 2008.
