Overview Project Description Construction Schedule Travel Advisories Contacts Photos Newsletter
Temporary lane closures will be required throughout the spring, summer and early fall 2004. Most will be single lane closures scheduled intentionally to avoid peak travel times, holidays, and major events held at area stadiums and arenas. Therefore, much of this work will take place during night hours and on weekends. Four weekends of multiple lane closures have been approved by SHA to permit the contractor to complete the work in a timely manner and significantly reduce the number of overall hours that any lane might need to be closed. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be complete fall 2004. Motorists are advised to consult the SHA website frequently located at marylandroads.com to obtain specific information regarding lane closures and learn more about the safety in the work zone.
Please allow additional time for traveling through the project area, especially during periods of construction. Lane closures are unavoidable, but SHA and the contractor are working together to minimize traffic impacts to the public.
No lane closures will be permitted on the following holidays nor on the workdays preceding and following them: Memorial Day (May 31), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (September 6), Thanksgiving Day (November 25), and Christmas Day (December 25).
Traffic patterns may change as the project progresses. SHA asks that motorists continually pay close attention to their driving habits, stay alert, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution and safety while driving through highway work zones. Motorists familiar with the area may wish to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
