Construction Schedule

Temporary lane closures will be required throughout the summer and fall of 2004. Lane closures will be scheduled to avoid peak travel times, holidays, and major events held at area stadiums and arenas. Therefore, much of the work will take place during night hours and on weekends. Multiple lane closures on weekends have been approved by SHA to permit the contractor to complete the work in a timely manner and significantly reduce the number of overall hours that any lane might need to be closed. Motorists are advised to frequently consult the SHA website located at marylandroads.com   as well as the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) website located at www.chart.state.md.us   to obtain specific information regarding lane closures and to learn more about the safety in the work zone.

Please allow additional time for traveling through the project area especially during periods of construction. Lane closures are unavoidable, but SHA and the contractor are working together to minimize traffic impacts to the public.

No lane closures will be permitted on the following holidays nor on the workdays preceding and following them: Labor Day (September 6), Thanksgiving Day (November 25) and Christmas Day (December 25).

Traffic patterns may change as the project progresses. SHA asks that motorists continually stay alert, obey posted speed limits, and exercise caution and safety while driving through highway work zones. Motorists familiar with the area may wish to find alternate routes to avoid delays.
