Concept Plan - MD 45 (York Road) From Windwood Road to Stevenson Lane.

The York Road Streetscape project began in late fall 2003 and will be complete in summer 2005, weather permitting. The project will be constructed in phases; the contractor will work in three- to four-block sections at a time.

Construction work includes:

Rehabilitation of the roadway (pavement patching and resurfacing);

Replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks; reconstruction of sidewalks to conform to provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act;

Construction of extensive landscaping enhancements including tree plantings, planter walls, brick accents, and street furniture;

Extension of the center turn lane in front of the new Drumcastle Center northward to the entrance of the St. Pius X Church and School;

Construction of a new left turn lane from Regester Avenue in Anneslie to southbound York Road;

Installation of a new storm drain pipe across York Road at Chumleigh Road;

Installation of a new storm drain pipe along northbound York Road between Anneslie Road and north of Regester Avenue;

Installation of new pedestrian lighting in front of the Drumcastle Center, York Road Plaza, and Anneslie commercial areas;

Replacement of traffic signals at Drumcastle Center, Dunkirk Road, and Regester Avenue;

Modification of the existing traffic signal at Stevenson Lane;

Installation of new traffic signs and reflective pavement markings;

Relocation of "cobra-head" light poles in Baltimore City;

Replacement of concrete bus stop pads in Baltimore City; and

Expansion and landscaping of the bus stops at Northern Parkway and Lake Avenue.
