To better ensure that traffic safety issues and circumstances unique to or concentrated in a local/regional area are addressed, a Community Traffic Safety Program Coordinator has been designated by the Maryland Highway Safety Office. Approximately half of Maryland’s 23 counties are combined into regions with a regional coordinator while the remaining counties and Baltimore City presently have an individual coordinator. These coordinators work with local Task Forces to identify traffic safety issues/problems, develop appropriate countermeasures, and implement or advocate solutions. The Coordinators are the focal point for communication and cooperation among local government agencies and the private sector on traffic safety matter and with the Maryland Highway Safety Office. The following is a list coordinators for the various jurisdictions.
