Automated Speed Enforcement

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is committed to enhancing safety on its roads. Red light running and driving too fast for conditions are the cause of many crashes in our State each year. The use of Automated Enforcement Systems is a method of deterring such high-risk behaviors. Automated enforcement is permitted by Maryland law for red light running and for driving 12 or more mph over the speed limit in designated school zones and certain work zones.
