ADA Compliance Planning - Retrofits
Compliance Planning consists of the current SHA initiatives to ensure all public rights-of-way (PROW) become compliant. The following elements are part of the Compliance Planning process.

  • ADA Compliance Planning
    • Self Evaluation Plan : The purpose of this Self-Evaluation is to produce a comprehensive survey of existing access in public rights-of-way (PROW) facilities. SHA's self-evaluation consists of two parts: a field inventory of existing conditions based on a statewide checklist and local public meetings to create a dialog about the survey results. The results of the self-evaluation and public meetings will be used to identify and prioritize improvements that will be implemented through the Transition Plan.
    • Transition Plan : The purpose of the Transition Plan is to aid in taking identified deficiencies and translating them into compliant elements needed to achieve accessibility to public right of way (PROW). It is essentially a schedule giving priority to certain types of facilities and allowing the State to program improvements in a cost-effective manner. Public Meetings are conducted to allow for the public to provide input for areas of concern or importance.
