The interchange will create a York Road gateway to Towson, similar to the Dulaney Valley Road Interchange. The project will create a better interchange that improves traffic flow, provides safer and easier access to and from the Baltimore Beltway and allows for future expansion of the Beltway. It will also provide property owners and businesses along York Road with a safer, more attractive roadway anchored by a new landmark, "The York Road Bridge"
