Welcome
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) would like to welcome you to the MD 216 Relocated Project Homepage. It is our intention to use this Web site to provide you with the latest information available on this project.
SHA is committed to providing mobility for our customers on a safe, well-maintained, and attractive highway system that supports Maryland's economy in an environmentally responsible manner.

The project site is located in southeastern Howard County between US 29 and I-95
The need for a safe and efficient connection between US 29 and I-95 in southeastern Howard County has been identified. To address the expected growth and increased traffic demands along existing MD 216 (Scaggsville Road), studies have been conducted in the area to reevaluate the original alignment selected in 1981. Changes in land use, traffic and the environment with respect to the study area have also been updated. Since the studies showed an overwhelming need for improvement in the area, a roadway improvement project has been initiated.
