Long Range Planning

Information on long range State Highway Administration projects may be obtained from Regional Planning Teams, which are part of the Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering’s Regional and Intermodal Planning Division. These teams, are based on geographic regions (Baltimore Metropolitan, Eastern Shore, Southern Maryland, Washington Metropolitan, and Western Maryland).

The Regional Planning Teams for each region are responsible for coordinating with county and municipal governments, and with Maryland's six (6) Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) to develop SHA’s portion of the annual Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP), Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and metropolitan area Transportation Improvement Programw (TIP). In addition, the Regional Planning Teams assist in the preparation of the Highway Needs Inventory (HNI), SHA's long-range, financially unconstrained planning document, which serves as a source of candidate projectsdocument for the CTP.

Regional Planners are assigned to specific regions and counties. Please refer to the following table for the Regional Planner you may wish to contact. If you prefer, you may also send your questions concerning long range planning by e-mail to [email protected] or call toll free at 1-888-204-4282.
