Maryland State Highway Administration Publications
The Maryland SHA Office of Communications distributes general informational brochures, pamphlets, and fact sheets describing SHA programs, policies, and projects.

Access Management In Maryland: This publication provides insight into the Access Management of Maryland highways by explaining why access management is important and how access management is accomplished. The Access Management In Maryland publication is in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
Adopt-A-Highway: This pamphlet describes SHAs Adopt-A-Highway program, in which groups of volunteers across Maryland help SHA clean up litter along State highways.
Baltimore Beltway Construction Projects 2001-2002: A quick guide to SHA's construction projects on I-695, the Baltimore Beltway.
Provides project locations, brief descriptions and schedules.
Driven to Excel: An SHA general information brochure, it includes SHAs mission, vision, and organizational structure. 8-1/2" x 11" color booklet, XX pages.
Maryland Roads: This employee newsletter features SHA events, employees, projects and programs, and is published quarterly. It is an 11" x 17" newspaper, 8-10 pages.
Outdoor Advertising Rules and Regulations: This pamphlet lists SHAs rules and regulations for placement of permanent and temporary signs adjacent to State highways.
Project Cloverleaf: This pamphlet describes Project Cloverleaf, a public/private partnership to improve the natural beauty of Marylands highways.
Roundabouts: This pamphlet answers the question "What is a Roundabout?" and explains how SHA is using roundabouts in selected areas to improve traffic operations
Smart Growth Programs - A Guide to Local Participation: This booklet describes the Smart Growth programs offered through the State Highway Administration with an emphasis on how local jurisdictions and communities can participate. The description of each program includes an Overview, Funding Requirements, Project Eligibility, Local Participation Opportunities, the Approval Process and Contact Information. Survival Skills for Driving in Winter Weather: This pamphlet includes tips on driving in winter weather conditions and a list of phone numbers for information on State and county road conditions.
When Main Street Is A State Highway:
The "When Main Street is a State Highway" handbook is to help citizens work with State Highway Administration (SHA) staff on Neighborhood Conservation Program projects. The approach outlined in this handbook results from numerous case studies and several years of experimentation with community-oriented projects, extensive SHA staff feedback, and the contributions of many local communities, citizens' groups and elected officials.
