The Project
US 29 at Stewart Lane
The proposed Stewart Lane interchange includes a new overpass on the existing Stewart Lane horizontal alignment. The northbound off/on ramps would be in the northeast quadrant and would tie into Old Columbia Pike. The southbound off-ramp would be combined with the off ramp for MD 650 and Milestone Drive would tie into the southbound on-ramp.
At this time, we are studying this interchange based on the revised traffic projection and trying to refine the design.
US 29 at Tech Road / Industrial Parkway
The proposed Tech Road interchange includes a new overpass on the existing Tech Road horizontal alignment. On the east side of US 29, Tech Road would be reconstructed with the new vertical alignment, impacting two driveways. Prosperity Drive would be reconstructed and raised vertically to meet Tech Road, impacting an additional two driveways. The interchange ramps would consist of slip ramps, located away from the overpass. On the East Side of US 29, the slip ramps would tie into Industrial Parkway. On the West Side of US 29, a slip ramp for access to US 29 southbound is connected to Old Columbia Pike, and would impact the existing Park and Ride lot. No ramp is provided for southbound US 29 to exit at this location. All traffic southbound to Tech Road/Industrial Parkway would exit at Randolph Road and use Old Columbia Pike or Prosperity Drive.
At this time, we are in the process of preparing preliminary design plans that include the horizontal and vertical alignments of the roadways.
