Milestones

Major Milestones

The State Highway Administration must review and approve all projects prior to "Advertisement" and "Award of the contract." An effort to describe Major Milestones in a typical project schedule in noted below. Complexity, coordination and reviews by other approving agencies will influence your project schedule. Detailed information regarding each activity will be provided at each kick-off meeting. The following review times are listed to assist the project sponsor in developing the project schedule.

Environmental Documentation	NEPA, Section 106, Section 4 (f) requirements	Concurrent with design (4 months for Categorical Exclusion approval)
Bridge and/or Structure review	TS&L, Boring, Structural and Foundation review	Concurrent with design (4 weeks/review)
PI or Semi-final Review (if applicable)		Concurrent with design (4 weeks/review)
Final Review	90-95% complete plans and specification proposal book with all required permits and approval letters (Checklist provided at kick-off meeting)	Concurrent with design (4 weeks/review)
"Request to Advertise"	100% complete plans and proposal book with all required permits and approval letters (Checklist provided at kick-off meeting)	5 weeks
Advertisement to Bid opening		3 weeks minimum
"Concurrence to Award"	Signed proposal book and forms (Checklist and forms provided at Bid openings	5 weeks
